Diversity & Inclusion

Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU) is proud to have diversity, equity and inclusion, mentorship and patient advocacy as core values. We embrace the philosophy that excellence in medical education, research and clinical practice is best achieved through promoting diversity and inclusion and maintaining an academic and work environment free of discrimination. We have pledged to sustain a learning community where diversity is celebrated and to foster access to medical education to learners who represent our community. We consider inclusivity to be a responsibility of everyone in our learning environment.

CMSRU recognizes the value of our differences and these qualities strengthen both our institution and our individual perspectives. We celebrate our community and diversity, including gender, gender expression, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, cultural background, socioeconomic status, age, physical abilities and educational background.

The CMSRU Diversity Council encourages collaboration among all departments by creating spaces that allow faculty and staff to express and appreciate a multitude of cultures, lived experiences and unique perspectives. The Diversity Council strives to create an inclusive and equitable professional atmosphere where diversity inspires new angles of inquiry, new kinds of analysis, new discoveries and new solutions.

We believe that our mission and values will help shape physicians who provide compassionate and culturally sensitive care to all they serve. We hope you find that our mission resonates with your own.
