Secular Students in Medicine (SSIM) is a group for medical students who identify as secular, humanist, atheist, or agnostic, and welcomes all open-minded individuals. We choose to live our lives based on scientific knowledge, and do not accept supernatural or unscientific claims as fact. SSIM hopes to create a safe environment that will encourage discourse based on reason, where discussion among secular-minded individuals can thrive. Additionally, we desire to serve those in need out of honor for our common humanity. Secular Students in Medicine hopes to increase awareness of and create a community for secular individuals in the medical profession. We find joy and purpose in our interactions with the world; the brief moment we spend on Earth motivates us to provide the best care for our patients.
