This course has been expanded to 2 weeks. The first week is designed to provide early exposure to the practice of medicine as it occurs in the hospital setting. As the students have had the exposure to the ambulatory patient, this course is designed to facilitate observation in the various inpatient clinical areas. This course is also designed to help the student identify what CMSRU core competencies. The 2nd week is designed to provide students with a high level of understanding the process improvement tools that can be applied in any circumstances. They will learn how to get started in identifying key issues in the clinical venue and operations, managing the important aspects of the initiative, measuring and maximizing the financial impact, and sustaining change over time.
