What are ALGs?

ALG are Active Learning Groups that take place with each hybrid course in our curriculum. ALGs are in-person group sessions that take place in each course in the program with the exception of Introduction to Sociology for the Premed Student (SOC 08.121) and Essentials of Psychology (PSY 01.423), which are our two fully online courses. Students participate within a group environment to foster collaborative learning, team work and understanding and actively discussing differences of opinion to identify a case or cases based within the subject matter of the course. These sessions are run and facilitated by current CMSRU medical students that have completed at least two years of ALG experience through the medical education curriculum at CMSRU. The Post Bacc ALGs are essential in helping students to understand today’s medical education learning methods.
