For a New Medical Student

Words of encouragement. Sage wisdom. Honest advice. A warm welcome.

These are the types of inspirational messages provided to our new medical students just as they embark on their medical school journey through CMSRU’s popular “White Coat Notes” program.

Notes are placed in the pockets of students’ new white jackets before they are cloaked during the White Coat Ceremony. Loved ones, fellow students, past and future mentors and colleagues, and friends are encouraged to participate in this meaningful program. And best of all, White Coat Notes helps raise money specifically to support student activities at CMSRU and the SGA Endowed Scholarship Fund.

Click HERE to see samples of White Coat Notes. You can choose from one of these samples, or share your own special thoughts and inspiring words. We aim to provide each student with one or more personalized notes. If you choose a sample note, please designate the number.

About the White Coat Ceremony
The White Coat Ceremony has become one of the most important traditions at CMSRU.  This rite of passage, during which new medical students are cloaked for the first time in short white coats, serves as a symbolic welcome into the medical profession and identifies the doctor-in-training as official members of the patient care team.  It is also the first time students recite a version of The Hippocratic Oath.

This year, 107 new medical students will don their white coats in the presence of family, friends, mentors, deans, faculty and staff. The event will be held Friday, September 14, 2018 at Pfleeger Concert Hall on Rowan University main campus in Glassboro, N.J. The White Coat Ceremony begins at 4 p.m. followed by light refreshments on the Wilson Patio.
