In September of each year, this tradition begins with reciting the promises of the Hippocratic Oath and then our first-year students don their first White Coats. They have formally entered the medical profession.
The White Coat ceremony allows CMSRU to welcome its newest medical students and to recognize their commitment to medical training that emphasizes the importance of community service as well as the need for empathy and caring in the doctor-patient relationship.
Families, friends, faculty, and alumni are invited to be a part of this momentous event by sponsoring the students’ White Coats. Each student will receive one or more note cards with the name of the sponsor(s) who provided his/her coat. These notes are meaningful to each student, because they inspire each to embark on his/her medical school experience, and they warmly welcome each as they become part of the CSMRU family of medicine.
