The Class of 2022
The Accepted Students webpage is a source of information which outlines the necessary steps involved in preparation for the first day of CMSRU Orientation, August 6, 2018. The Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU) Office of Student Affairs provides a timeline that allows you to become familiar with information and forms which are required to be completed prior to Orientation. Completing these tasks will allow you to become familiar with one another, the curriculum and Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. The instructions for completing and submitting the required documents are outlined below for Admissions, Student Affairs, Registrar and Financial Aid.
Official final transcripts are due to the Office of Student Affairs and Admissions by July 1, 2018.
As a condition of admissions, final undergraduate transcripts need to be obtained and verified for completion of requirements. We need to receive your final transcript that shows that your degree was awarded. This is required to be part of your student academic file in medical school.
The transcript(s) you provided to AMCAS as part of your application, is electronic and not sufficient. We need to receive a hard copy of your Official transcript from your Undergraduate school.
Official copies from undergraduate schools only should be sent to:
Kathleen Johnston, Registrar
Office of Student Affairs and Admissions
Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU)
401 South Broadway
Camden, NJ 08103
Note: CMSRU requires undergraduate transcripts only. Transcripts from Graduate or Post Bac programs are not required. Please request to have your transcript sent to the CMSRU Registrar as AMCAS does not automatically send transcripts to medical schools.
Health Insurance 2018-2019
STUDENTS CANNOT ENROLL IN THE HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN UNTIL JULY 1, 2018. AN EMAIL NOTIFICATION WILL BE SENT WHEN ENROLLMENT OPENS.
Health insurance is required for all students attending Cooper Medical School of Rowan University.
Federal healthcare laws require parents' health care policies to provide coverage for dependents up to age 26; therefore, we encourage our students to investigate that possibility as an alternative to the student health insurance. Students may also explore their eligibility for public health benefits before deciding whether or not to waive out of the student insurance program.
CMSRU's student health insurance is contracted as a Platinum Plan with Aetna. The health insurance premium rate for the 2018-2019 academic year is $4,810 for a single student. Health insurance coverage will be effective from August 1, 2018 to July 31, 2019. The premium is billed 100% on your fall term student bill in addition to fall term tuition and fees. Please be aware that the premium rate increases annually
Students must log onto www.aetnastudenthealth.com to waive or enroll by July 9, 2018. Select Rowan University-Cooper Medical School. The “Enroll Now-Health Insurance” or “Waive Your School’s Health Insurance” hyperlinks are located on the tool bar on the left side of the screen. An email regarding health insurance will be sent to all students by the Office of Student Affairs prior to enrollment.
PLEASE NOTE: Students will automatically be enrolled and charged the health insurance premium cost if the CMSRU Waiver Form is not submitted by July 1, 2018.
NOTE: Students who waive health insurance cannot enroll in the plan at any other time during the 2018-2019 academic year UNLESS they have a life status change. Please contact customer service at 877-480-4161 or www.aetnastudenthealth.com directly with questions regarding life status changes or any other questions you may have.
Health insurance enrollment is an online process and must be completed annually by EVERY student. Whether you are selecting the school-sponsored plan or are requesting to waive, your decision must be made by July 9, 2018.
We are able to offer vision and dental discount plans for the upcoming 2018-2019 academic year for an additional cost. You will be notified when the premium costs for the 2018-19 vision and dental plans are made available. Please note that the vision and dental discount plans are not included on your student bill. You must enroll in the discount plans separately.
NOTE: If you have specific questions regarding the insurance plans, please contact Aetna customer service at 877-480-4161 or www.aetnastudenthealth.com.

Computer. We do not provide computers for our students. We support any platform. We do provide all students with the online textbooks needed for our curriculum free of charge. Our IT staff suggests the following:
Medical Equipment. You will begin seeing patients and learning the physical exam within weeks of matriculation. CMSRU suggests that you have a stethoscope and penlight. It is suggested that in Phase I of the curriculum, you not invest in expensive equipment, such as blood pressure cuffs, otoscopes and opthalmoscopes, as they are expensive and best deferred until later in training. The CMSRU Simulation Lab is fully equipped to allow you to practice using these at any time.
Clothing. Please refer to the Professional Appearance Policy within the online Student Handbook. White coats are provided to each student during the White Coat Ceremony.
