Andrea Bottaro, PhD

About Me

Andrea Bottaro, PhD, is Professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences and Assistant Dean for Phase 1 Curriculum at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. Dr. Bottaro earned his PhD in Human Genetics from the University of Torino in Italy, after which he carried out postdoctoral fellowships at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York and at Harvard Medical School in Boston. Before joining CMSRU, he was on the faculty of the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.

Dr. Bottaro's research interests focus on the role of the immune system in inflammation, autoimmunity and cancer, in both human disease and animal models. He has published extensively in these fields, and has served as ad hoc and standing member on numerous NIH Study Sections and other grant review panels. He is a member of the American Association of Immunologists, where he also serves on the Education Committee, of the Society for Leukocyte Biology and of the International Association of Medical Science Educators.
