Department of Biomedical Sciences

The Department of Biomedical Sciences (BMS) is the home of the basic science faculty at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU). The BMS faculty are essential contributors to medical education at CMSRU, and participate extensively in the first and second year medical school curriculum. Related to this mission, BMS faculty are actively involved in medical education research to improve pedagogical strategies used in medical education.

In addition to medical education, the department has a vigorous biomedical research program. Research areas of excellence include neuroscience, cancer, cell biology, and microbiology. Our faculty are generously supported by funding from the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, and other government and foundation sources. The members of the department are highly collaborative and participate in local, national, and international research projects. The BMS department is also a welcoming biomedical sciences training environment with opportunities for laboratory training at all educational levels.
