About Me
Iris Hagans joined Cooper in 2014 as a primary care internal medicine resident after completing medical school at Drexel University College of Medicine. She was drawn to the Camden community and elected to stay at Cooper in the Division of General Internal Medicine as a primary care physician after residency. Her clinical and educational interests focus on healthcare inequalities, navigating patient mistrust, and interprofessional education. She has held several teaching positions at CMSRU and is currently the Co-Course Director of the Foundations of Medical Practice and a preceptor in the Cooper Rowan Clinic. In her role as Co-Course Director of the Foundations of Medical Practice, she works to refine communication, physical diagnosis, and clinical reasoning training--which she views as the underpinning of an excellent physician. She has been honored twice by the Gold Humanism Honor Society and received a Golden Apple Award in 2021 for excellence in teaching.
She is also the mother of a spirited toddler and hundreds of species-native plants (and the wildlife they welcome).
