About Me
Steven S. Yocom, DO, FACOS, is an Professor of Clinical Neurosurgery at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. He serves as the Director of the Cooper Spine Center and the Spine Tumor Center. He served for 12 years as the Program Director of the Neurosurgery Residency Program.
Dr. Yocom is a board-certified neurosurgeon with more than two decades of experience in complex spine and brain surgeries. He completed his Doctor of Osteopathy at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and pursued additional training through a fellowship at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London, England.
As a leader in his field, Dr. Yocom has contributed significantly to neurosurgical research and education. He has been involved in multiple clinical trials, including studies on spinal cord injury treatments and innovative spinal fusion techniques. His research has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as Neurosurgical Focus and World Neurosurgery.
Dr. Yocom's expertise has been recognized with numerous awards, including being named a Top Doctor by South Jersey Magazine multiple times since 2010. He is a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons and maintains active memberships in several professional organizations, including the Congress of Neurological Surgeons and the North American Spine Society.
In addition to his clinical and academic roles, Dr. Yocom serves on the Editorial Board for the Journal of Osteopathic Neurosurgery and participates in various hospital committees to improve patient care and surgical outcomes.
Dr. Yocom is committed to advancing the field of neurosurgery through innovative techniques, research, and education of the next generation of neurosurgeons.
