About Me

Joshua V. Okon, MD, is a fellowship-trained sports medicine physician within the Cooper Bone and Joint Institute. He is a graduate of Cornell University and went on to complete his medical school education at Jefferson Medical College, residency at Christiana Care in Wilmington, DE, and sports medicine fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in conjunction with the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute. There, he was fortunate enough to help take care of numerous high school, collegiate, and professional sports teams, including the Philadelphia Phillies.

After fellowship, Dr. Okon remained at Jefferson and Rothman for nine years where he was committed to medical education as an assistant professor of Sports Medicine as well as the assistant director of their sports medicine fellowship. He was instrumental in the training of medical students, residents, and fellows during that time.

During his time at Jefferson, he served as the medical director and head team physician for Thomas Jefferson University, formerly Philadelphia University, and oversaw the care of athletes for their 17 men’s and women’s varsity sports. He also continued as of the assistant team physicians for the Philadelphia Phillies.

Dr. Okon sees patients ages 3 years and older at several offices in South Jersey. He strives to provide accurate diagnoses and he takes pride in suggesting preventative strategies to ensure injuries do not re-occur. In addition to treating most common orthopaedic injuries, he has specialized training in ultrasound-guided treatments, regenerative therapies such as platelet rich plasma injections, and minimally invasive procedures for tendinosis.
