Penghao Wang, PhD

About Me

Penghao Wang, PhD joined CMSRU in September 2024 as an associate professor of biomedical sciences. Dr. Wang earned his PhD from the University of Sydney, Australia, in 2009, followed by postdoctoral training at both the University of Sydney and the University of New South Wales. He later worked as a scientist at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) before joining Murdoch University, Australia, as a tenured faculty member in 2015. His expertise spans biostatistics and bioinformatics, with a primary research focus on applying statistical and bioinformatics methodologies to address complex biomedical and agricultural challenges. Dr. Wang has published 70 articles in international journals and conference proceedings and developed a range of software and high-performance systems for big data analysis. He will lecture in the areas of biostatistics and AI and facilitate an Active Learning Group. He is currently supervising six PhD students at Murdoch University, and his research is supported by multiple Australian funding bodies, including the Australian Research Council, the Grains Research and Development Corporation, and the Western Australia Department of Health
