Excellence in Research

The Clinical Skills and Simulation Center is engaged in important and innovative research programs in simulation-based education. The sim center faculty and team have been prolific contributors to the academic discussion with more than 80 peer-reviewed publications, several books, and more than a dozen book-chapters. This work has contributed significantly to the development of simulation as an important educational tool in medicine. Each year, the Center is involved in medical student and resident physician led research programs using simulation.

The Sim Center is also accredited by the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) as an Endorsed Simulation Program. This certification, granted since 2009, recognizes the high quality of anesthesia simulation programs and the dedication of resources needed to maintain and expand the programs. The Simulation Center is also authorized by this accreditation to offer ongoing Maintenance of Board Certification education and continuing patient safety, and continuing medical education credits to ASA members.
