Junior Urban Medical Pioneers (JUMP)
The Junior Urban Medical Pioneers High School Academy (JUMP High) is a Saturday program for high school students who excel in math and science. The program's hands-on activities and interactive learning sessions expose students to applied science, and provide an overview of a variety of science and healthcare careers. The sessions occur one Saturday per month in the fall and spring.
The primary goal of JUMP High is to provide mentorship and exposure to medical professions to students who belong to groups that are traditionally underrepresented in medicine, as well as those from financially-disadvantaged backgrounds. By interacting with medical students, physicians and scientists, JUMP High students will be able to network and form important mentoring relationships which will be useful as their careers progress. Students will learn about various career options within the field of medicine and leave with a better understanding of how to achieve success in the sciences.
JUMP High is led by faculty and medical students of Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU). Sessions are held at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. JUMP High is supported, in part, by generous contributions from Townsend Press and Verizon NJ.
