Sangita Phadtare, PhD, is Professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences and Assistant Dean for Phase I Curriculum at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU). Dr. Phadtare earned her PhD in Microbiology from University of Pune in India. Before joining CMSRU, she was a faculty at the Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Dr. Phadtare has been recipient of a number of excellence in teaching awards.
Dr. Phadtare's research encompasses areas of microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry and gastroenterology. Her main research interests are (i) Helicobacter pylori, (ii) Irritable bowel syndrome, psychological disorders and dietary influences (iii) changes in human gut microbiome in response to various conditions, (iv) bacterial toxin-antitoxin systems, (v) bacterial cold shock response, and (vi) innovations in medical education. She has authored over 70 publications and has four patents.
