Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine
In his role as Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU), Dr. Mazzarelli provides strategic leadership, oversight and management of CMSRU’s interface with clinical training programs.
A key member of Cooper’s executive leadership team, Dr. Mazzarelli serves as Co-President of Cooper University Health Care. Prior to being named Co-President, Dr. Mazzarelli was the Chief Physician Executive and Senior Executive Vice President, where he had oversight of Quality and Patient Safety for the health system as well as oversight of Cooper's practice plan of more than 630 employed physicians who also serve as the faculty for Cooper Medical School of Rowan University.
Dr. Mazzarelli has been a tireless champion for CMSRU. He was a member of the original team from Cooper who helped pioneer the integration with Rowan University in preparation for the launch of the medical school. As an Associate Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine, he lectures on bioethics and healthcare policy to medical students and residents.
Dr. Mazzarelli holds a medical degree from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and a Masters in Bioethics from the University of Pennsylvania Center for Bioethics. He trained in Emergency Medicine at Cooper University Hospital, where he also served as Chief Resident and later as Medical Director of the Department of Emergency Medicine.
