Erin Pukenas, MD, MBA

Associate Professor of Anesthesiology

In her role as Assistant Dean for Student Affairs at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU), Dr. Pukenas oversees career advising, mentorship and residency placement for CMSRU students. She works closely with the Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Admissions to ensure that students receive the support and guidance needed to reach to their full potential as physicians.

Dr. Pukenas is an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at CMSRU. In addition, she is one of the founding Advisory College Directors, helping to build the Advisory College program into a national model for student advising.

Dr. Pukenas earned her medical degree from West Virginia University School of Medicine, completed her Anesthesiology residency at Cooper University Hospital, and her Pediatric Anesthesiology fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She is certified in both pediatric and general anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology. Dr. Pukenas is currently director of the division of quality and safety in Cooper University Health Care’s Department of Anesthesiology and serves as Cooper’s Patient Safety Officer. As a leader of key national quality and safety initiatives for pediatric anesthesiology, Dr. Pukenas was selected as a fellow in the 2016 Harvard University safety and quality leadership program.
