Jonathon Rendina, PhD, MPH

Assistant Dean for Research

Jonathon Rendina, PhD, MPH, serves as Assistant Dean for Research at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU). In this role, Dr. Rendina collaborates closely with the CMSRU Associate Dean for Research to track and evaluate research activities among clinical faculty at Cooper University Health Care (CUH), serve on key leadership committees, and contribute to strategic planning for the medical school’s research mission.

Additionally, Dr. Rendina serves as Vice President of Education and Research at Cooper University Health Care, where he leads the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs overseeing health system-wide research administration, centralized operations, and sponsored programs. He also oversees the the Office of Graduate Medical Education (in partnership with the DIO) and the Office of Continuing Medical Education.

Prior to joining CMSRU and Cooper, Dr. Rendina held academic and leadership appointments as Associate Research Professor of Epidemiology at the Milken Institute School of Public Health at George Washington University and Senior Director of Research at the Whitman-Walker Institute. He previously served as Assistant Professor of Psychology at Hunter College (CUNY) and sat on the faculty of the Fordham University HIV and Substance Use Research Ethics Training Institute.

An NIH-funded principal investigator with more than $30 million in competitive grant funding and over 140 peer-reviewed publications, Dr. Rendina’s scholarship focuses on sociostructural models of stigma, health equity, and HIV prevention and treatment. He holds a PhD in Social Psychology and an MPH in Biostatistics.
