CMSRU unveils new mark for the Edward D. Viner Center for Humanism
October 28
On Friday, the Edward D. Viner Center for Humanism unveiled its newest permanent mark at CMSRU. The ceremony was a moving tribute, attended by Dr. Viner’s family, colleagues, and members of the Center. This new mark is far more than just art; it is a permanent, visible reminder of our foundational history and the transformative vision of Dr. Edward D. Viner. Thirteen years after CMSRU opened its doors, his vision continues to shape our growth and inspire new minds.
Also unveiled was a plaque honoring Dr. Melvin R. Pratter, a cherished former Professor of Medicine at CMSRU who sadly passed away in May 2024. Dr. Pratter’s legacy of excellence and compassion lives on through the Melvin R. Pratter, M.D. Endowed Scholarship, ensuring that his dedication inspires future generations of CMSRU students.
This new installation is strategically placed just beyond the first floor lobby, visible even from the exterior windows. It faces the hospital, a powerful symbol of the profound impact CMSRU has had on the Camden community and the city itself. We encourage everyone to take a moment to visit the installation, read the panels, and reflect on the enduring legacies that shape our mission.
