ARISE Program Launches at CMSRU

January 16

The Edward D. Viner Center for Humanism officially launched ARISE, a new recognition program celebrating the humanistic and professional values that define the CMSRU community, during a recent Coffee Social.

Arise at CMSRU LogoIn remarks shared at the event, Lawrence Weisberg, MD, associate dean for professionalism and director of the Viner Humanism Center, emphasized that a core part of the Center’s mission is to foster the development of humanistic health care professionals—and one of the most powerful ways to do that is by recognizing and celebrating role models within our community.

ARISE highlights five core values essential to humanism in health care: Altruism, Respect, Integrity, Striving for Excellence, and Empathy. Community members are encouraged to “shine a light” on everyday acts—both big and small—that exemplify these values.

Submitting a recognition is quick and easy: simply scan the ARISE QR codes displayed throughout CMSRU and share the name of a student, faculty member, staff member, or other community member whose actions reflect one or more ARISE values. Submissions take about 30 seconds.

Acknowledgements will be shared throughout the year, with all honorees recognized collectively at an end-of-year celebration. The ARISE program invites everyone at CMSRU to participate in building a culture of appreciation, compassion, and humanism.
