Leading with compassion has been shown to have research-backed benefits not only in health care, but in business too, according to a recent Harvard Business Review article by Stephen Trzeciak, MD, MPH, Anthony Mazzarelli, MD, JD, MBE, and Emma Seppälä, PhD.

The article highlights the positive impact that compassionate leadership can have on employee engagement, productivity, and retention.

Dr. Trzeciak is chair of medicine and professor of medicine and emergency medicine at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU) and chief of medicine at Cooper University Health Care (Cooper); Dr. Mazzrelli serves as associate dean for clinical affairs at CMSRU and co-president/CEO of Cooper, and Dr. Seppälä is a faculty member and director of the Yale School of Management’s Women’s Leadership Program member.
