Honoring Camden trailblazers, Doctors Samantha and Susana Collazo

March 30

Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU) is proud to announce that two of our alumni have been inducted into the Camden Schools Foundation (CSF) Hall of Fame. Doctors Samantha and Susana Collazo, both 2018 graduates of CMSRU, were inducted on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at the Tavistock Country Club in Tavistock, NJ. Drs. Samantha and Susana Collazo are the first two Camden natives to graduate from CMSRU and continue to pave new roads for Camden and CMSRU.A photo of the Collazo twins and their award

Samantha Collazo, MD, graduated from Brimm Medical Arts High School in 2009, earned a baccalaureate degree in exercise science from Rutgers University and was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society at CMSRU for her exemplary patient care. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Atlantic Health’s Morristown Medical Center, developing expertise in comprehensive women’s health. Dr. Samantha Collazo serves patients across South Jersey with a focus on robotic gynecologic surgery, menopause management and LGBTQ+ health and is the lead physician with Virtua OBGYN Group.

Susana Collazo, MD, is a double board-certified pediatric emergency medicine physician at Cooper University Hospital and Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at CMSRU, where she also serves as assistant director of mentorship.  Dr. Susana Collazo also graduated from Brimm Medical Arts High School in 2009, and earned a baccalaureate degree in exercise science from Rutgers University. She completed her pediatric residency at Atlantic Health’s Goryeb Children’s Hospital and a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at UConn’s Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. Passionate about mentoring and supporting at-risk youth, she is dedicated to guiding Camden’s next generation while providing expert care in pediatric emergencies.

“This honor is especially meaningful, since it comes from our community,” noted Dr. Susana Collazo. “We didn’t always plan to be doctors, but our educational mentors opened our eyes to the possibility that we could be so much more than we dared to hope.”

“We’ve always wanted our school to be of the community and to inspire young people from Camden,” said Annette C. Reboli, MD, Dean of CMSRU. “Samantha and Susana are excellent physicians and role models. We are particularly proud of the work Susana does as a faculty member at CMSRU every day to continue to build relationships with our community partners.”
